Soundscape of the Columbia River

Sound recordings by Portland State University Student John Patterson

With the theme of this year’s roadshow being water, I decided to try and capture the Columbia River in a soundscape. The river is a timeless archaeological feature and sound is a fascinating medium to experience the past, present, and the future. Included in my recordings are the following sites in order: South Jetty, Trestle Bay, Twilight Eagle Reserve, Aldrich Point, Jones Beach, Warrior Rock Junction, Kelly’s Point, Ft. Vancouver, Sandy River Delta, Chinook Landing, and Celilo Falls.

Please enjoy your listening experience while you explore our roadshow.
